EMP Puts Japan on Tape

October 17, 2000

Four EMP Development Team members embarked June 10th on a ten-day, video-making adventure in Japan. EMP's Japanese licensee Chikako Uramoto, affectionately known as "Fox" to friends and associates, was all set to guide us on our adventure in and around Tokyo. We taped scenarios in Control of Bleeding, Choking Management, Rescue Breathing, and Initial Assessment for both children and adults.

We couldn't have done this project without the courteous, friendly help of all our Japanese associates. A wonderful time was had by all. We had some great meals together that allowed us to get to know each other better. Socializing with business associates is an important part of the Japanese culture. It is amazing just how much we have in common.

When the videotape is edited it is hoped it can be of most benefit to Fox for use in EMP's Japanese programs. Fox's students will surely appreciate and identify more closely with scenes using Japanese actors filmed locally. EMP International recognizes the need to expand the international flavor of our programs. This Japanese adventure was a first step in meeting this need. The Japanese footage, along with scenes shot earlier in New Zealand, may find its way into other future programs.

We look forward to filming opportunities in the future with other licensees. Many thanks from our crew to Fox and her friends and staff at EMP Japan who helped make this filming adventure a great success.
