His Goal Is To Instill Confidence

From Warehouse Assistant to Training Center Coordinator, Corey Abraham has been involved with MEDIC FIRST AID almost as far back as he can remember. His mother, Ronda, was one of the first employees of the company. So Corey and his friends were an obvious choice to participate in some of MEDIC FIRST AID's first instructional videos and slides. As he moved into his teenage years, Corey began working summers in the MEDIC FIRST AID warehouse where his main job function consisted of putting First Aid packets together.

As Corey learned more about MEDIC FIRST AID, he decided to become a First Aid Instructor and sought full-time employment with the company. Corey started out in 1995 as a Registry Assistant and moved on to Client Services where he assisted clients for about four years. In 1999 he became the Training Center Coordinator.

Corey's position as Training Center Coordinator allows him to focus his energies toward coordinating and conducting both Instructor classes and student-level classes. The Instructor classes are designed for those individuals wishing to receive certification as Instructors. These classes are taught by Corey over two days, each consisting of an eight-hour session. By the end of the second day, the members of the Instructor classes become certified MEDIC FIRST AID Instructors.

For student-level classes, Corey makes arrangements to go to a place of business to teach a class for employees of the business or he sets up a time for those seeking First Aid cards to come to MEDIC FIRST AID to be trained in the Training Room. After anywhere from four to six hours, the students have completed the student-level class and receive their CPR/First Aid Card.

Along with all his current job duties, Corey has also taken on responsibilities within the Program Development Department of MEDIC FIRST AID. These responsibilities include answering technical questions from trainers and supplying medical advice on video shoots.

All in all, Corey says his time as an MEDIC FIRST AID employee has been an enjoyable learning experience. He reached his goal of becoming a certified First Aid Instructor and took it a step further by receiving his certification as an EMT Basic. He has trained about 750 people and his goal in training these people and future trainees is to instill in them the confidence necessary to effectively utilize the skills they have learned in the classes. While training, Corey promotes a relaxed, positive atmosphere where students are encouraged to ask questions. At the end of a class session, he says he leaves with the satisfaction of knowing he has taught people the proper way to save a life.

As for his personal life, Corey has been married to his wife, Danielle, since July of 1999. The couple had their first child, a daughter, Ainsley on November 8, 2000. His family also has a dog named Piper who Corey says is notorious for being "out of control". He spends the majority of his free time with his family taking drives and visiting. His hobbies include golfing, fishing, and working in his "peaceful" yard.
